I was hoping for better but I’m sad to say I didn’t have a super ideal experience in terms of covid safety here. I called and requested a covid-cautious/immunocompromised appt and basically got like told that other patients won’t be masked but yah that the staff will be masked. I also specifically wanted an appt that combined like exam and cleaning (so to reduce the number of times I’d have to be going to the dentist and putting myself in a higher risk situation). I booked for near the start of their day and when I arrived was told the dentist was sick (which is my preference of course to not have a sick dentist come to work) so it would just be the exam – if possible, I would’ve preferred a call to let me know so I could make the decision to still come in for only half my appt. But none of the receptionists are masked, the dental assistants were masked with surgicals but I had to ask one of them to actually put their mask on as it was under their chin at the beginning. I was also not put near a window.
Also heads up for other trans people, I got misgendered to hell lol despite explaining to the receptionist my pronouns and such over the phone (unfortunately a common experience but that coupled with the other safety concerns it was not ideal so thought it was worth including).

  2. That’s so rough! Thank you for sharing. I’ll update the title to reflect that this is not a reliable resource
